John Glanville is a drummer, educator, and producer from Calgary, Alberta. As a drummer, he is trained in the jazz tradition and is a Philly Joe Jones fanatic. John carries a deep passion for excellence and joy in the percussive arts, and you can catch him dishing out flurries of rudimental phrases at Calgary venues such as Betty Lou’s Library, Cornerstone Music Café, and Gravity in Inglewood.

As an educator, John believes that proper fundamental technique and a strong grasp of the rudiments do not obstruct the joy of creating music, but instead compliment it, and that this is true whether a student is learning an étude, performing in a band, or jamming out to a top 20 hit. To John, it is very important that any student can practice the basics of drumming while having fun.

John has produced numerous projects ranging from indie rock to country. Baby Bro, his sophomore collaboration with Regina indie rock group Jake and the Kid, won Album of the Year at the 2023 Saskatchewan Music Awards.

John holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Ambrose University and has travelled across the continent and to Europe to deepen his understanding of drumming and music through intensive studies with legendary drummers such as Kenny Washington and John Riley; he also held a three-year position on the Ambrose Arts Research Team with a focus on human connection in concerts. John is a protégé of Sanah Kadoura (Downbeat Magazine Best Albums of 2023 winner).
